Yoga (Panchāṅga)

The fifth panchāṅga limb: one of 27 combinations from the summed longitudes of the Sun and Moon.

What it means

This "nitya yoga" is one of the five limbs, distinct from the chart yogas (planetary combinations like Gajakesari). There are 27 of them — Vishkumbha through Vaidhṛti — each graded auspicious or not, with a few (Vyatīpāta, Vaidhṛti) traditionally avoided. Do not confuse it with the daśā or with chart-strength yogas.

How it's computed

The engine adds the sidereal longitudes of the Sun and Moon, takes the result modulo 360°, and divides by 13°20′ to get the yoga index and its end-time.

Deterministic, license-clean engine (astronomy-engine, VSOP87-grade; Lahiri ayanāṁśa). The AI advisor only narrates these computed facts — it never invents chart data.

Frequently asked

Is this the same as a "Gajakesari yoga"?
No. Panchāṅga yoga is a daily Sun+Moon limb. Chart yogas like Gajakesari are planetary patterns in a birth chart — a different concept that shares the word.
Which yogas are avoided?
Vyatīpāta and Vaidhṛti are the two classically inauspicious yogas; most others are neutral to favourable.
